Los Angeles Helicopters is dedicated to helping its student pilots obtain the critical training they need to prepare them for a rewarding career in the commercial helicopter industry. Our focus is placed on developing a unique plan for our students, one that focusses on their core interests. To do this, we have worked hard to integrate hiring requirements into our professional training curriculum whose outcome provides the foundation to satisfy employers.

Our primary role as an organization is to spread the truth about being a helicopter pilot, not fill people will false promises. We have built solid relationships with commercial operators in this industry due to the fundamental requirements we have set for our organization. No matter where you end up training, we urge you to take into account the following selection guidelines to lead you towards a good decision.

H E L I C O P T E R  SCHOOL SELECTION TIPS
Airspace
Make sure the school you select offers a variety of airspace for you to fly in. Understanding the fundamental of navigating in differing airspace rules will make you a better pilot.
Helicopters Only
Look deeply into the core business strategy that the school has. It is of paramount impotance that you train with a school that is dedicated to helicopters.
Part 141
A part 141 school offers a disciplined approach to training its students. Most importantly, it provides the student with an accurate account of the training s/he has accomplished, which allows the student to transfer with accurate records to any other training facility that is also 141. This is how you maintain flexibility throughout your training.
It is further important that the school offer multiple aircraft with varying functionality to meet the requirements of fullfilling each license offered. An example of this would be an instrument aircraft for use to complete commercial training.
Make sure the instructional staff is diverse and well skilled. It is crucial that the instructors have commercial operating experience, and further important that there are both standard and instrument instructors available on staff.
Equally important is the infrastructure required to support an organization. With the increase demand placed on flight training facilities to adhere to homeland security requirements and FAA requirements, make sure that the organization has experienced business professionals handle the sometimes overwhelming requirements imposed on aviation businesses.
Facilities that have a maintenance division are better able to maintain the fleet in the air without interuption. This contributes to better scheduling practices within the facility which offers more structured learning to the students. Remember, operating heolicopters means maintenancing helicopters.
Also, how can the facility help you find a real job, not make false employment promises? Any facility that will guarantee you a job in this business is performing an injustice to the quality of pilots available for hire. The reality of this business is that it will take you hard work, dedication, enormous integrity and the proper skillset to move on.
Lastly, Is the facility approved to provide financial aid? Any facility which can help you finance your training has gine through an approval process with financial institutions. At a minimum, the facility must have been in business for at least 4 years - a true indicator of the stability of the business itself.

Los Angeles Helicopters has a solid history of training and positioning pilots within Tour Operators, Emergency Medical Service companies, Heavy Lift Companies and even Fishing Operations. We enjoy watching our students grow to become our industry's successes.
