FAA Helicopter External Load Certificate

LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA (March 29, 2007) - Los Angeles Helicopters (LAH) is excited to announce that it has recently been certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Part 133 External Load operator. This much sought after rating is the result of years of hard work and countless hours spent working closely with its local FAA representatives.

The certificate will enable LAH to conduct a one-of-a-kind Long Line course to include Vertical Reference techniques (landing on custom built Heliports) widely known within the industry to be the first step in learning to “fly a line.” Upon successful completion, the company may issue graduates with a Part 133 Rotorcraft External Load Operation Statement of Competency.

FAA External Load Operator

A defining quality of the LAH External Load course is the caliber of its instructors. The course is taught by some of the highest time Professional Long Line pilots in the industry averaging 11,500 hours. Each instructor is currently employed by one of the largest Heavy lift companies in the world. The course will be conducted using 200' steel long lines, which is an industry first in the training field. In keeping with Los Angeles Helicopters higher standard, the course will be certified under FAA Part 141.
