Los Angeles Helicopters Moves to New Facility
October 1, 2008
On its 8th anniversary, Los Angeles Helicopters proudly announces
moving to a 12,000 square foot, two story building and adjacent
ramp on the Long Beach Airport in California. Conveniently located
near the main entrance of the airport, the new property makes Los
Angeles Helicopters one of the largest Federal Aviation Administration
accredited helicopter-only charter, flight training academy and
Robinson Helicopter Company dealer and service centers in the country.
“It is a very exciting time for Los Angeles Helicopters
as all departments and locations are consolidated in one facility”,
says President and CEO Michael Rogers. “This facility
accommodates the company’s foreseeable growth and beyond”.
The facility is modeled after high-end fixed base operators (FBO’s)
typically found at large airports that accommodate executive jet
clientele. The helicopter parking area (ramp) is immediately adjacent
the building and also accessible through a secure gate from the
roadway. Other features include a private glassed-in passenger
waiting lounge with views of awaiting helicopters, a large reception
area flooded with natural light and a conference room for large
meetings. The second floor is dedicated to the rapidly growing
FAA accredited part 141 pilot training and part 133 external load
training flight school. Students enjoy views from second floor
windows to the ramp, can observe maintenance department personnel
working on helicopters and view the privately owned and hangared
helicopters. Each floor has restroom facilities and the second
floor flight school has a kitchen and quiet room for study and
flight planning. Pilot access to the ramp is quickly achieved after
a brief walk through the hangar. Maintenance department personnel
are easily accessible to answer pre or post flight questions.
A key feature of the new facility is the underground fuel farm.
Unlike most operators that rely on other companies to refuel their
waiting aircraft, LAH personnel manage and operate the fueling.
There is no delay launching aircraft.
