LA Helicopters offers one of the best Vertical Reference and Longline courses available in the industry today. Training some of the industry's best pilots, the LA Helicopters course is based on actual utility long lining standards, those used by the big names in heavy lift and firefighting helicopter operations.
Los Angeles Helicopters offers this comprehensive External Load Course for pilots aspiring to further their skills and career opportunities. The course focuses on developing fundamental skills for real time operations, and is drawing both major helicopter companies and private pilots to attend.
Positive pilot testimonials and proven results have garnered the Academy's reputation throughout the helicopter community as it continues to grow in size and stature.
What sets the LAH curriculum apart from its competitors is that it is conducted by industry professionals with current real world experience and countless thousands of long lining hours. Our instructors are currently employed by some of the largest Heavy Lift and Fire Fighting companies in the business. The course has been widely accredited by the industry and continues to gain popularity due to its tough "real-world" theme.
The course fills a long standing industry void to now provide a formal training platform for which a company or individual can turn to.
LAH has a reputation in the industry for offering one of the best Vertical Reference / Long Line and External Load training programs available today. With satisfied clients from leading operators such as Columbia Helicopters, Carson Helicopters and Erickson Air-Crane, there's a reason that heavy weight companies choose to send their select pilots to the Los Angeles Helicopters Professional Long Line Academy.
The course is conducted utilizing 200 foot steel Long Lines, which are by far the most difficult utility lines to fly. The reason that we choose steel is that they are the least forgiving of all of the Long Lines used, which makes for the best training environment. Our philosophy has always been to present participating Pilots with the most difficult scenario right out the gate and then watch as they all step up to meet the challenge. No other course available pushes their participants to this degree, none!
The course is conducted using the Robinson R44, which is a proven stable Long Lining platform and an excellent and cost effective training helicopter. Los Angeles Helicopters flies the latest model R44's, complete with hydraulics and fuel injection. No prior R44 experience is necessary for this course. Prior to the course pilots will receive one hour of training in the R44 normal and emergency procedures, and will receive the SFAR73 Awareness training and SFAR73 PIC endorsement from a Robinson Helicopter Factory instructor.
