The 30 / 30 R44 Lesson

Unlike the R22 lessons, which are conducted in the 2-seat Robinson R22 helicopter, this lesson is conducted in the four-seat Robinson R-44. On this lesson you can also take up to two friends along for the ride.

This lesson is set up with 30 minutes of ground school conducted at the helicopter explaining how the helicopter flies, what each control does, how to read the gauges, what to look for in conducting the pre-flight inspection and making sure the helicopter is safe to fly.

After ground instruction is complete, you will take to the air on a 30 minute flight lesson, during which you will take the controls with the help of your flight instructor to see what it is like to pilot the helicopter. This flight is usually conducted at Long Beach Airport and over the local coast line. Students get the chance to experience most flight conditions, including straight and level flight, climbs, turns and descents, plus the most memorable, hovering.

With the ground school and flight combined, you will have a basic understanding of how to fly the helicopter.

There is no obligation for you to continue lessons, the lesson special is offered to give you insight into helicopter flight. The flight time received does count towards your license should you wish to continue lessons toward a private or commercial license.
